September 2000 Newsletter

Marines and Members:

   Our next regular scheduled meeting will be on September 4^th, 2000 @ 19:00 hrs.  A fine meal will be served along with refreshments; mealtime and social hour will be from 18:00 to 19:00 hrs.  Please try to attend as September 4^th is on Labor Day, we could not reschedule the meeting for another time; so please try to attend this meeting.

  General Information:

   With the 77^th National Convention behind us, we are now making plans for the year 2001 convention which will be held in Dearborne Michigan.  We have some literature and brochures at the Hut, these will tell about some attractions in Dearborne.  We will be receiving more information during the year and if you wish to, you may view these at the meeting.

 Sick and In Distress:

   Marine Harold Pitre’s brother Aaron passed away this past month.

   Associate Member David Leckett’s father also passed away this month.

   Marine Leroy Authement was hospitalized and under went cervical surgery, and is currently doing well.  Lets keep them all in our thoughts and prayers.

Local Interest:

   Our senior Vice Commandant, Eldridge Kleibert will be our Toys for Tots chairman this year and will be flying off to Quantico Virginia on September 11^th.  This is a school for O.C.S. for all T.F.T. Chairmen to get together and talk about new ways to do the T.F.T. Program, here ideas are studied on what works best for T.F.T. and those that do not  .  Soon after his return, we will begin our T.F.T. Drive and collections.  GOOD LUCK Eldridge, and have a good flight.

From the Auxiliary:

   Madam President did not have a write up for us this month, but she would like to see all of her Auxiliary Ladies at the next meeting.  She attended the National Convention in New Orleans and will probably speak about it at the meeting.

Good of the League:

   Remember to bring in a new member or bring back an old one.

   Remember to volunteer your help on some of the things we do, if possible.
