Marines and Members: Our next regular scheduled meeting will be on June 5, 2000 at 1800 hrs. A fine meal will be served as usual, with refreshments. 1800 to 1900 hrs. is socializing and meal time. The Joint League and Auxiliary meeting will begin at 1900 hrs. A short break will follow as we go about to our respective meeting places. Please try to attend and bring a new member with you. General Information: “O.K..”, “D”-Day is rapidly approaching for the Department of Louisiana Convention, on June 2, 3 and 4th. Some Members has already made reservations at the Plantation Inn or Hotel/Motel of their choice. All reservations are up to the individual. The League is not making reservations for rooms and such. The Convention Chairman, Ned Bergeron has things in line for all meals and meetings to be at the Hut-102 St. Pius Street. Our regular League Meeting will be the day after the Department Convention. So if you intend to donate to the Wheel Barrow of Booze, please do so before June 2nd. And, as you know, all of our League & Auxiliary Members are invited to attend, so please try to be here. At this time, I can not disclose the Menu, but there is Music lined up for your dancing pleasure on Saturday Night. Also, the Marabu Cypress Club Management will set up one or two tables if any one from the Convention would like to go there. They are located on Savanne Road. The River Edge Band will be there and they are good. This Friday nite, June 2nd. If you plan to go we need to know Friday afternoon as early as possible. Upcoming Events: June 10th, 2000 – The Houma Elks Lodge will be doing Flag Day Ceremonies at 10:00 A.M. at the Court House. Need Volunteers from the Marine Corps League to be there in white Shirts & Black trousers-red cap and black shoes. Their Exculted Ruler, Roy Neal has 2 Marines in full dress blues lined up to stand on each side of the podium with The Marine Colors and the American Flag. This will be a nice thing and also good for the League, so come out and see. Sick and in Distress: Marine Leo Lirette, Ralph Guidry and Carl Cortez are still not doing to well at this time. Lets keep them in our thoughts and prayers, and wish them well. Marine Sammy Daigle’s wife, just recently underwent surgery, lets wish her well and remember her in our prayers. From the Ladies Auxiliary: We have been very busy this month with the S.E.C. Birthday Party on May 26th. Then kicking off the Department Convention on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June. Busy, busy week, I hope to see most of you all there. Please come, we’d love to have you with us. Don’t forget if you have anything for the Chinese Auction to bring it to the Hut by Thursday June 1st. See you all then.
Good Of The League: Remember , try to recruit new members into our League, we need them, also, bring an old Member back in. BINGO: We are doing pretty well with our bingo games right now. It could be a lot better, but we’ll take what we can get. At least we’re not in the red zone and that’s good. June Bingo Schedule
