Marines and Members:

Our nest regular scheduled meeting will be on August 7, 2000 at 1900 hrs.  As usual, a fine meal will be served along with refreshments.  Mealtime and social hour 1800 to 1900 hrs.  The joint meeting will begin at 1900 hrs.  Please try to attend.

General Information:

As most of you already know, we have had a change of command at the beginning of July.  Commandant Godfrey (T-Pup) Naquin has resigned the position of Commandant due to health reasons and workload conditions.  The new command went into effect at the July meeting.  The officers are as follows:

Commandant – Marine Roy Labat

Sr. Vice Commandant – Marine Eldridge (Bozo) Kleibert

Jr. Vice Commandant – Marine Donald Dupre

Chaplin – Marine Leroy Authement

The Judge Advocate remains the same, Marine Roy Neal.  Also Jr. Past Commandant Ned Bergeron and Liaison Officer Marine Sammy Daigle, and Sgt. @ Arms Marine Ken Prestinback.

Past Commandant Marine Naquin will remain a very active member and he has my ut most respect and friendship.  I will try to carry on and do the tasks that he had set forth.

Sick and in Distress:

Marine Ned Bergeron underwent surgery in July at the Veterans Hospital in New Orleans, and is currently doing very well.

Marine David Saultors is currently under going treatment for a Staph Infection; he too is doing well at this time.  Lets keep them in our prayers.

Events of Local Interest:

On July 15, 2000, the Marine Corps Recruiters, with Sgt Martin in charge held a weapons simulator class at the Hut for prospective Marine recruits.  He had about thirty recruits in attendance, and a couple of weapon’s personnel from New Orleans on hand.   I attended also and found it quite interesting.   Good luck to the recruits that are leaving for M.C.R.D.

Special Events:

National Convention is August 13 through August 19, 2000 in New Orleans.  This will be out last meeting before the National Convention, if you are planning to attend I would like to have a roster of all people from the Detachment that are attending.  We will discuss this further at the meeting.

From the Auxiliary:

Ladies,

Our monthly meeting is coming near.  I believe it would be to your advantage to attend this meeting.  Along with many other things, we will be discussing the National Conventions.  I know you will try to come.  This is the best chance you will have if you want to move up in the flee ranks.  Please come to our meeting on August 7 to find out how this is possible.  Hope to see you there, if not we will be looking for you at National.

Hope everyone that was ill last month is feeling much better now.  If anyone is feeling under the weather please drop us a line or give us a call and we will say a prayer for you.

Please drive safely.

     MCLA President,
Darline Dupre
