Marines and Members: Our next regular scheduled meeting will be on Monday May 1st, 2000 @ 1800 hrs. As usual, a fine meal will be served with refreshments. The Chaplin will say Grace before meal time. The Joint Meeting will begin @ 1900 hrs, followed by a short break afterwards. Please try to attend. General Information: Saturday April 29th, 2000 – Cerebral Palsy Crayfish Boil Off at the Houma Air Base at the Agriculture Building. The League has a boiling team entered, so come out and cheer them on, the team cooks are: Brian Falgout, Richard Molaison and Theo Manquia. They said they are the best, so lets come find our. There will also be music, so wear your dancing shoes. In addition, we are still in need of booze for the Dept. Convention in June, for the wheel barrow-full-of-booze raffle. If you can donate a bottle or beer, or cash, please do. The Convention is June 2, 3, & 4th. Welcome New Members: At this time, we would like to acknowledge and welcome our newest members.
Marine John Hays Associate Members:
Adjutant – Associate Member - Carl Cortez Congratulations and welcome aboard to all of you. Members Sick and in Distress: Marine Russell Hebert’s Father passed away on April 2, 2000. We extend our deepest and heart felt sympathy to the family. Marine Ralph Guidry has been admitted again in Ocshner Hospital for further surgery. He had undergone surgery in March, was released from the hospital to go home and complications has him back in Ocshner’s. Marine Leo Lirette is in Terrebonne General Hospital and not doing well at this time. Marine Neil Abbott fell off a ladder, broke his arm, and is recuperating at home. Our Detachment Adjutant – Carl Cortez, is not doing well at this time. As you know, Carl is a childhood Polio Victim, and from time to time, he suffers with terrible pain. Marine
Curtis Babin’s Father is in Terrebonne General Hospital and not
doing very well at present. Let us keep all of them in our thought and prayers,
and hope for speedy recovery. Good of the League: Try to recruit new members, or get an old member involved. We need them and welcome them. From the Auxiliary: Ladies, another month is ending, in April we have accomplished making our Americans Wreath pins for the National Convention. We also made angels for the patients at the cancer center. We are collecting miscellaneous items for the ways and means table for the Department and for the National Convention. You know those little things in the way that you may not want anymore. Like the old saying goes, “One person’s trash is another one’s treasure”. Please bring them to the Hut or call one of us and we will visit you to pick them up. Ladies, on May 26 we will be giving the S.E.C. Birthday Party. We give these special kids a party every year at this time. We will need help, PLEASE COME. I would like at this time to welcome the new Members we have for the 2000-year. Ann
